An LMCC — Low-Rise Multifamily Compliance Certificate — is the Title 24 Part 6 compliance document for low-rise multifamily residential buildings. This includes duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and apartment buildings up to three stories.
Where a CF1R covers single-family residential energy compliance, the LMCC covers multi-unit residential buildings: lighting, mechanical HVAC systems, controls, envelope performance, and in some cases electric vehicle charging and solar requirements.
LMCC reports are generated using CEC-approved compliance software and must be registered with an approved California registry before permit submission. Complexity varies significantly by project scope — a simple duplex is straightforward, while a larger multifamily building with complex HVAC zoning requires a full envelope and mechanical analysis.
When is an LMCC required?
Any time you pull permits for a new low-rise multifamily building or a significant addition or alteration to one. Your local building department will confirm the requirement, but in most cases any new multi-unit residential structure up to three stories will require an LMCC.
Title24Comply's multifamily report starts at $345 for up to 4,000 sq ft with 4 units — the most affordable fixed-rate pricing for LMCC reports in California.
